eLearning and the Notebook Program

Technology has become an everyday tool for engagement with contemporary learning.  It is an integral part of the way we manage our lives.   Some students engage well with the way the laptop works and others enjoy the ability to have a range of programs to employ for their learning.  It is a support to learning and does not replace the thinking or the learning of the student.

Warrnambool College has a dynamic and progressive approach to providing students with the opportunity to use computer technology to enhance their studies in all areas of the curriculum.

One of our main aims as a college is to integrate the use of computers into all areas of the curriculum.  It is recognised that the computer can be used as a  major tool of engagement; it is the learning tool for students of today.

As one strategy to maximise skill development in this area, we offer Year 7 students the opportunity to participate in a Notebook Program.  Students in the class participate in the program offered to all Year 7 students but are able to use their notebooks as a learning tool in all areas of their studies.

Features of the program include :

  • Students are assigned to a dedicated notebook class
  •  Students have access to wireless connections throughout the College
  •  Ongoing professional development for teachers
  •  A dedicated room with access to internet, intranet and other online facilities
  •  Computer software which assists students to solve problems, improve presentation, enhance research skills, and encourages collaborative learning
  •  Ability for students to use computer technologies on an ongoing basis to support teaching and learning in all curriculum areas.
  •  On line communication including email, wikis and blogs.
